James J. Purtill, M.D.
Dr. Purtill specializes in joint replacement and complex revision procedures. He is the author of numerous articles published in orthopaedic journals and has traveled extensively lecturing in orthopaedic topics.
He was honored with the Philip Syng Physick Award during his last year of residency. He received his B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania, where he majored in psychology. Dr. Purtill began his association with Thomas Jefferson University as a medical student, graduating from Jefferson Medical College. Dr Purtill held an orthopaedic surgery clinical research fellowship at the Rothman Institute. He then completed a general internship in the Department of Surgery at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital.
Dr. Purtill has co-authored articles that have appeared in the New England Journal of Medicine, Spine, The Journal of Arthroplasty, and Clinical Orthopaedics & Related Research. Dr. Purtill has also made presentations at The Eastern Orthopaedic Association Meeting.
Dr. Purtill sees patients at the Rothman Institute's Center City and Voorhees, NJ locations.
