Patient Places Trust in Rothman...Three Times

Carmen Vuotto Sr. believes in the saying, “things come in threes.” That’s because over the past two years Vuotto has undergone three surgeries at the Rothman Orthopaedic Institute.

It all started when the retired Philadelphia native developed a hip problem that continued to get worse, despite medication.

“I saw a billboard that said ‘we trust Rothman Orthopaedic Institute,’” says Vuotto. “I had always heard good things about Rothman, so I decided to see if they could help me.”

Vuotto went to William Arnold, MD, a Rothman hip and knee surgeon, who told him he needed a hip replacement.

“I appreciated how upfront Dr. Arnold was with me,” says Vuotto. “He answered all of my questions, explained the surgery and was there through my entire hospital recovery.”

Following surgery, Vuotto began rehabilitation. A short 14 weeks later, his hip felt better but he began experiencing back pain. Without hesitation he went back to Dr. Arnold who recommended he see Greg Anderson, MD, an orthopaedic spine surgeon at the Rothman Orthopaedic Institute.

“Dr. Anderson performed a spinal laminectomy on me. He was friendly, direct, and walked me through the entire process,” says Vuotto, who again attended rehabilitation following his surgery. As if having hip and spinal surgery weren’t enough, Vuotto began having knee pain about a year after his spinal procedure. For a third time, he returned to Dr. Arnold who performed knee replacement surgery on him.

“The Rothman Orthopaedic Institute is top of the line,” says Vuotto, who is well on his way to recovery. “I should know, because I keep going back!”
