Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners

Christopher Adams, PA-C

Christopher graduated from Philadelphia University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Health Science. He continued his education at Philadelphia University, completing their Physician Assistant Program. Prior to graduate school, he worked as an Emergency Room tech and a personal trainer. He enjoys surfing, skiing, rock climbing and was previously ranked nationally for gymnastics. Christopher works alongside Dr. Fabio Orozco.

Jacqueline Bohanko, PA-C

Jacqueline received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology from Muhlenberg College in Allentown, PA and went on to graduate from Drexel University's Physician Assistant Program with a Master in Health Science. After graduating PA school, she did a year-long residency in Emergency Medicine at Albert Einstein Hospital in Philadelphia. Prior to joining Rothman Institute, she practiced in Bryn Mawr, PA for five years in the emergency department at Bryn Mawr Hospital. Jacqueline currently works with Dr. Gerald Williams.

Brian Campenella PA-C

Brian is a Certified Physician Assistant and graduated from the Hahnemann Physician Assistant Program at Drexel University. Prior to joining Rothman Institute, Brian worked at Orthopedic Reconstruction Specialists in Voorhees, NJ for five years and has also worked at Trenton Orthopedic Group. Before becoming a Physician Assistant, Brian worked as a certified athletic trainer at Framingham State College in Framingham, Massachusetts as well as Woodrow Wilson High School in Camden, New Jersey. Brian has experience in general orthopaedics, sports medicine and total joint replacement. He has worked with Dr. Michael Harrer for over 9 years in both the office and operating room and continues to do so.

Carmen P. Carrero, MS, PA-C

Carmen graduated from Philadelphia University’s Physician Assistant program, where he also completed his undergraduate degree with a Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences and a Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies. He currently works with spine surgeon, Dr. Mark Kurd.

Gabrielle Caucci, PA-C

Gabrielle is a board certified Physician Assistant who graduated from the Philadelphia University Physician Assistant program. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from The Richard Stockton College of New Jersey. Prior to working at Rothman Institute, she worked as an assistant in the departments of Plastic Surgery and Trauma. She currently works with Dr. Kristen Radcliff, specializing in orthopedic surgery of the spine.

Steven DiRocco, PA-C, PTA

Steven is a Board Certified Physician Assistant who graduated from the Hahnemann Physician Assistant Program at Drexel University. Steven also worked at NovaCare as a therapist before physician assistant school at Hahnemann. After graduating Steven began work assisting 10 physicians at Premier Orthopaedics. He also assisted in surgery and independently ran an orthopaedic urgent care center in Media, PA. Steven treats a broad spectrum of musculoskeletal issues including sports related injuries, degenerative joint disease, sprains/strains and much more. Steven works closely with Dr. Peter Sharkey and is also a part of the total joint team.

Adriana Distanislao, PA-C

Adriana is a board certified Physician Assistant who graduated from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine with a Master’s of Science in Physician Assistant Studies. She received her Bachelor of Science degree from Penn State University. Prior to joining Rothman Institute, she worked in general orthopedic surgery for Mercy Health System. She now assists Dr. Michael Ciccotti in Sports Medicine.

Diego Fiorentino, PA-C

Diego is a Certified Physician Assistant who graduated from the Hahnemann Physician Assistant Program at Drexel University. He also received his Bachelor of Science in Biology from the Richard Stockton College of New Jersey. Diego worked as a sports medicine physician assistant in Southern New Jersey prior to joining the Rothman Institute. Diego works closely with Dr. Matthew Pepe specializing in surgical sports medicine.

John W. Fleischman, PA-C, MPT, ATC

John graduated from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine's Physician Assistant Program. He received his Bachelor of Science degree and Master's in Physical Therapy degree at the University of Scranton and completed his Athletic Training certification at Rowan University. Prior to becoming a physician assistant, he worked as a physical therapist at Orthopaedic/Sports Medicine Physical Therapy facilities and volunteered as an athletic trainer at several South Jersey High Schools and tournaments. John currently works with Dr. John Salvo, Jr. specializing in surgical and non-surgical sports medicine injuries.

Kristen Frank, PA-C

Kristen graduated from the Drexel Hahnemann Physician Assistant program and practiced emergency medicine in Camden, NJ and West Chester, PA for six years before coming to Rothman Institute. Kristen treats patients at both Rothman Institute urgent care facilities (Marlton and Limerick). She volunteers yearly for the Ironman World Medical Team, and has also worked with medical teams for the Philadelphia Marathon and Ironman Lake Placid. She is a triathlete and enjoys treating endurance athletes.

Mila Furman, MHS, PA-C

Mila is a board certified Physician Assistant who graduated from the Drexel Hahnemann Physician Assistant Program where she received her Masters of Health Science degree in Physician Assistant Studies. She also received her Bachelor of Health Science Degree from Drexel University. Prior to joining Rothman Institute, she worked as an emergency trauma center physician assistant at a local teaching hospital. Mila currently works with Dr. Alexander Vaccaro, President of Rothman Institute, specializing in orthopedic surgery of the spine.

Thomas Geary, PA-C

Thomas is a Certified Physician Assistant and graduated from the Hahnemann Physician Assistant Program at Drexel University. He also received a Bachelor of Arts in Health and Exercise Science as well as a Master of Arts in Education from Rowan University. Prior to becoming a physician assistant, Thomas worked as a certified athletic trainer in Gloucester and Camden counties. Thomas works work with Dr. Bradford Tucker specializing in surgical sports medicine.

Chris Hart, MS, MEd., PA-C, ATC

Chris graduated from Penn State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology & Athletic Training. He went on to receive his Master of Education in Athletic Training from the University of Virginia and later completed the Physician Assistant Program at Rosalind Franklin University. Chris previously worked as the head athletic trainer for Randolph Macon College in Ashland, VA, as well as St. Ignatius High School in Chicago, IL. Prior to returning to PA school, he worked as a physician extender to Dr. Paul Marchetto and now currently works as Dr. Marchetto’s PA-C.

Brian Hilinski, PA-C

Brian is a Certified Physician Assistant who graduated from the Physician Assistant Program at Drexel University. He previously worked along with Rothman Institute Physicians at Nazareth Hospital in Northeast Philadelphia. Prior to working as a Physician Assistant, Brian was trained as a Surgical Technician in the US Air Force where he was stationed in Germany and Northern California. He currently assists in various sub-specialties at the Rothman Orthopaedic Specialty Hospital in Bensalem, and Physicians Care Surgical Hospital in Royersford.

David Katz, PA-C

David is a Certified Physician Assistant and graduated from the Arcadia University Physician Assistant Program. He also received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology from University of Delaware. Prior to joining the Rothman Institute, David worked in Haddonfield, NJ for two years with a general orthopedic surgery practice. David works closely with orthopedic spine surgeon Dr. Zachary Post. He also sees patients in the Egg Harbor Township, NJ office.

Conor Luskin, PA-C

Conor is a Certified Physician Assistant. He graduated from the Philadelphia College ofOsteopathic Medicine Physician Assistant program. Conor also received a Bachelor of Science inRehabilitation Science from the University of Pittsburgh. Prior to coming to The Rothman Institutehe worked as a physician assistant in an emergency department in Pennsylvania.
Conor works closely with Dr. Luke Austin in both the Egg Harbor Township office and the Washington Township office.

Seth Mahan, PA-C

Seth graduated from the Philadelphia University Physician Assistant program. He received Bachelor of Science degrees in Athletic Training and Health/Physical Education from West Chester University. Prior to joining the Rothman Institute Seth worked for a general orthopaedic practice in Wilmington, DE. Seth sees patients at the Bucks County Specialty Hospital in Bensalem, PA.

Sophia Mathews, CRNP

Sophia is a nurse practitioner who graduated from the Family Medicine program at Thomas Jefferson University. She also received her Bachelor in Nursing at Thomas Jefferson. She graduated from the University of the Sciences with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. Prior to joining Rothman Institute, she worked as a registered nurse in a skilled nursing facility. She now works alongside joint surgeon, Dr. Jess Lonner.

Alexis V. Pino, PA-C, MS

Alexis graduated from the Philadelphia University Physician Assistant Program where she received her Master's of Science in Physician Assistant Studies. She received her Bachelor's Degree in Journalism with a specialization in Broadcasting from Rowan University where she graduated Summa Cum Laude (with highest honor). She assists Dr. Christopher Kepler specializing in orthopedic spine surgery and sees patients in the Center City and Washington Township offices in addition to providing surgical support in the operating room. She has an interest in medical writing and spinal research and works closely with Dr. Kepler on various ongoing research projects.

Virel Prajapati, PA-C

Virel is a board certified Physician Assistant who graduated from Salus University with a Master’s of Medical Science and also served as the class president. He received his Bachelor of Science from Rutgers University and spent his early career in Emergency Medicine. He now treats patients at Rothman Institute’s Orthopaedic Urgent Care Centers in Marlton, NJ and Limerick, PA. He sees patients in all aspects of orthopaedics with a focus on traumatic injuries.

Martin Ramsi, PA-C

Martin started with Rothman Institute in 2012. He began practicing in orthopaedic surgery in 2005, specializing in sports orthopaedics. He began his sports medicine training at Rowan University graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training / Sports Medicine. He then went on to receive a Master’s degree in Kinesiology / Sports Medicine from Temple University where he was a graduate assistant. He practiced as a licensed athletic trainer for 8 years before attending Drexel University / Hahnemann where he received a Master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies. He was inducted into the Pi Alpha National Honor Society and received the Elizabeth Peabody Stohlberg Award for academic excellence. In addition to his clinical practice, he has been involved in training other Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners as a Preceptor and Mentor. In 2012, he obtained the Orthopaedic Surgery Certificate of Added Qualifications, a specialty designation from the NCCPA (Licensing board for physician assistants) demonstrating his specialty knowledge above his general medicine training and education. He is currently the Physician Assistant for Dr. Fotios Tjoumakaris, specializing in shoulder, knee, and athletic hip disorders.

Laura Woodward, DNP, ANP-C, ONP-C

Laura received her Master’s and Doctorate degrees in Nursing Practice from George Washington University. She is certified in Orthopaedics by the National Association of Orthopaedic Nurses and has worked in orthopaedics since 1986 in a clinical, research and management capacity. Laura works alongside joint surgeon, Dr. William Hozack.

Kevin Shelby, PA-C

Kevin is a Certified Physician Assistant who graduated from the Hahnemann Physician Assistant Program at Drexel University. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science with an emphasis in Sports Medicine from Florida State University. Prior to becoming a physician assistant, Kevin worked as a certified athletic trainer at the collegiate level. Kevin joined the Rothman Institute and works with Dr. David Greg Anderson who specializes in orthopaedic spine surgery. Kevin sees patients in the Northeast Philadelphia, and Bensalem.

Colleen Thornton, CRNP, ONP-C

Colleen is a nurse practitioner who graduated from the Adult Nurse Practitioner program at Johns Hopkins University. She also received her biology degree from Loyola University of Maryland and her undergraduate Bachelors in Nursing from Johns Hopkins University. Prior to joining Rothman Institute in 2010, Colleen worked in the Division of Spine Surgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital from 2006-2010. She is also a recipient of a Certified Orthopaedic Nurse Practitioner certification. Colleen obtained her RNFA and first assists in the operating room with Dr. Jeffrey Rihn. She also holds an Adjunct faculty position at the Thomas Jefferson University School of Nursing in Philadelphia. Colleen specializes in Orthopaedic spine surgery. She sees patients in the Media, King of Prussia and Limerick offices.

Paul Riotta, PA-C

Paul is a Certified Physician Assistant who graduated from the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences Physician Assistant program. Prior to coming to Rothman Institute, he worked as a physician assistant in a general orthopedic practice in Southern New Jersey. Paul works closely with Dr. Alvin Ong and sees patients in the Egg Harbor Township office.

Kristin M. Strogus, PA-C

Kristin graduated from Philadelphia University's Physician Assistant Program. She received a Master of Arts in Education degree from Montclair State University and a Bachelor of Science degree in Athletic Training from West Chester University. Kristin previously worked as a physician assistant at Jeanes Hospital in Philadelphia practicing inpatient medicine. Prior to becoming a physician assistant, she worked as an athletic trainer at Montclair State University and Richard Stockton College. Kristin currently works with Dr. John Abraham, Chief of Orthopaedic Oncology at Rothman Institute.
