Shin splints, also known as Medial Tibial Stress Syndrome is an inflammation of the outer lining of the large lower leg bone. There are many factors that can be attributed to shin splints, with a common thought that repetitive tension on the bone lining by the attached muscles can lead to pain. Shin splints are commonly seen in athletes participating in running sports.


Usually, Shin Splints are felt on the inside of the shin. They may present as an ache or soreness over the lower leg bone which worsens with running or jumping.
