Though we assist patients with many unique and complex medical problems, we also treat more common injuries such as sprains, strains & fractures. Basic daily activity such as playing sports, exercising, or working around the house can lead to wear and tear on the body, which may result in sprains, strains, & fractures.

Though sprains, strains & fractures can be similar in nature, they do have some specific differences. 
A sprain happens when a ligament, which connects bones to each other, is torn or stretched too much. Sprains usually cause pain around or at the injured joint.  
A strain occurs when a muscle or a tendon, which connect muscles to bones, is torn or stretched too far. Strains often cause stiffness and pain in the injured muscle or tendon. 
Both sprains and strains are common injuries that patients of any age may experience. If a strain or sprain is mild, it will usually heal with rest, ice, a protective splint and mild medication. If the injury is more severe, it may require surgery to heal properly.  
Fractures occur when there is a complete or even a partial break in a bone. Fractures are often more painful than sprains or strains. If you notice significant swelling, bruising, a decreased ability to walk, change in appearance of the area, or even protruding bone, a fracture is likely the cause. A fracture will most likely require immediate medical assistance.
