Amanda's Rothman Story - Orthopaedic Trauma

Coffee may get a lot of people up in the morning, but not Amanda. For her, it’s adrenaline and nothing gets it flowing like a challenge. You name it, she’s up for it—like way, way up. It’s how she found her biggest passion: skydiving. It’s also how she got her biggest scare, when an accident during a routine dive caused her to smash into the ground at nearly 60 mph.

After shattering her leg and suffering a severe concussion, she was rushed to the hospital, where surgeons were able to save her life and fix the leg. But it was never the same. She couldn’t walk. She couldn’t skydive. She thought her life as she knew it was over.

Until a friend recommended she go to Rothman. And that’s when everything changed. Amanda’s Rothman doctor took a look at her X-ray and told her, “I know what’s wrong with your leg and we’re going to fix it. Let’s get you walking again.” Now she’s not only back to walking and skydiving again, she’s doing even more than she did before. Thanks to the care she received at Rothman, the sky’s no longer the limit.
